For the crumble:
300 g sifted flower
150 g of cane sugar
200 g of butter (in cubes, at room temperature)
A pinch of salt
A pinch of ground star anise or cardamom

For the filling:
100 g raisins
½ glass of rum
500 g of sour apples (eg Granny Smith or Boskoop), cut into cubes
50 g brown sugar or extra cane sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp fresh grated ginger
Optional: a knob of butter for extra creaminess

Preparation method

How do you make this?

Raisins Wellen: Let the raisins soak in the rum for a few hours for extra taste. Then squeeze them out.

Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 180 ° C.

Crumble: Mix the flour with the cane sugar in a large bowl. Rub the butter through the mixture until you get crumbs. Add a pinch of salt and a touch of star anise or cardamom for extra aroma.

Prepare apple filling: grease a baking dish with butter. Divide the apple cubes evenly over the dish and sprinkle with the brown sugar, lemon juice and grated ginger. Sprinkle the extended raisins over it. If necessary, add a knob of butter for a creamier filling.

Apply crumble: cover the apples with the crumble gough. Make sure the crumble is well spread everywhere.

Bake: Bake the crumble for 25 minutes in the oven until the top is golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool.
