This summer I will take you back to one of my absolute favorite places: Ibiza! This beautiful Spanish island immediately stole my heart and since then we come here several times a year to enjoy ourselves with the whole family.

What do I love about Ibiza? The vibrant vibe of Ibiza Town, the peace in nature, and the endless possibilities to shop, chill, eat well with a view of the sea and dance until the sun comes up. Also for the kids it is a great holiday here!

In this update I share my newest discoveries of this year: cozy restaurants, coffee bars with top baristas, bakeries with freshly baked sourdough bread and delicious breakfasts. Discover all my favorite hotspots, from magical beaches and vintage boutiques to colorful hippie markets, cozy bars and hidden gems. And of course I let you taste the most delicious restaurants, tapas and cocktails. The delicious, honest Ibiza cuisine with its pure flavors remains my favorite! Have fun discovering!

MY LATEST DISCOVERIES

Ibiza and I, we are now best friends! I already have a whole list of favorite places, but there is always something new to discover. And of course I like to share those hidden gems with you. Here are my latest discoveries, which I have also neatly placed in the right categories further on in the blog. Have fun discovering and let me know what you think!

  • Pantastic: In the center of Ibiza lies Pantastic, a small but lovely place where you can enjoy delicious coffees and lattes. They offer a small but nice range of breakfast dishes and daily fresh sourdough bread. The bakery has an open kitchen, so of course I always stare at it, there is something e!
  • Santa G Bagelhouse: Enjoy artisanal bagels and coffee at the hip new Ibiza café Santa G, next level breakfast or brunch on the picturesque square by the church of Santa Gertrudis. Wim and I indulged in bagels and coffee and Grace in cinnamon rolls! And in the evening you can also drink cocktails and have a modern omakase experience at a mega long bar.
  • The Monk Coffee Roasters: is a modern coffee brew bar in the heart of Santa Eulalia, Ibiza. Here you can enjoy unique single origin coffees. Their focus is on quality and sustainability. They have a tap, like a beer tap, where nitro cold brew is served. How cool is that?
  • Aguamadera (restaurant): recently opened, is a beautiful agriturismo hotel with a farm-to-table restaurant in the inland of Santa Eularia. The focus is on an open kitchen that works without electricity or gas, with a wood-burning stove for pure flavours and a unique experience. The dishes are seasonal and local, with home-grown ingredients and vegetables. (only open in the evening)
  • Aguamadera (hotel): The hotel offers a beautiful setting and location, designed as a sanctuary for nature, gastronomy and art. It is the perfect place to relax, enjoy conversations under a starry sky and stay in beautiful rooms. Aguamadera is a must for anyone who wants to experience the pure Ibiza!
  • Supūn: On the road from Sant Josep to Ibiza. A new, small, cozy bao, noodle & sake bar where the baos and noodles are homemade, and you can enjoy delicious slurping ramen, boa buns or even gratinated oysters, all perfectly combined with the best sake. You sit at the bar or the tables and there is also a terrace!

Perfect for a relaxed evening with jazz, soul and funk in the background, and of course a glass of vino in hand.

It is hidden in Ibiza town and there are only 10 seats at the bar where the dishes are freshly prepared right in front of you according to all the rules of the art. You can also have a customized sake formula, just saying… Chef Walt worked at Nobu in Tokyo, among others, where he learned the traditional Japanese techniques. He works with so much passion and dedication! Omakase literally means (approximately) 'I leave it up to you'. You sit down and surrender yourself to the Japanese chef and all the courses he has chosen for you. Omakase is the Japanese version of a chef's menu.

  • Comida San Juan : Classic small tapas bar where you can sometimes queue, simple fresh dishes, lots of fish, a bit further than the boutique Jeffrey's in Ibiza town. Not too expensive!

Meat

Fancy a juicy piece of meat? Here are my tips for all meat lovers:

  • Cami de Balàfia : A real institution on the island! You can eat all kinds of meat, grilled on charcoal. They have the best aioli, tomato salad and hand-cut chips on the island. They also make their own hierbas, a local alcoholic drink with anise.
  • Can Caus : Situated on the road to the friendly town of Santa Gertrudis and is perfect for those who love meat, jamon (salted ham from Spain) and local produce. In the weekend you can also score the most delicious couscous there. It has a beautiful typical long bar and a large restaurant. In the winter we always ask for a table by the fireplace, so cozy and delicious!
  • L'Apéro Ibiza : Very accessible restaurant in Ibiza town with French influences. From delicious filet américain or merguez fries and an egg on it to secreto Iberico with a pureeke and vegetables on the side, njaaaaam!

Fish

Delicious fish and seafood straight from the sea, it doesn't get any fresher than this! From tapas to stews and grills, these are the best fish restaurants in Ibiza:

  • The Fish Shack : A unique open-air restaurant on the rocks at Playa Talamanca, east of Ibiza, with a beautiful view and friendly service. Very popular with the locals and very basic. They serve super fresh fish without a menu, just the catch of the day. Usually a queue, but hey, then you're already drinking something
  • Can Pujol : The best fish in town in an authentic setting in San Antionio. A simple family restaurant, but oh so tasty! The biggest asset is the sea view.
  • Es Boldado : We can't go to Ibiza without eating here! It has a magical location overlooking Es Vedra. My favorites on the menu: sangria de cava, espardenas al ajillo, black rice with saffron cream, bullit de peix and café caleta. After dinner you can enjoy the rocky beach.
  • Sa Caleta : A real family restaurant with mainly fresh fish dishes. I usually take the grilled seafood platter and the tarte tatin with cafe caleta. Simple and sooo good.
  • El Bijotes : A fisherman's hut on Cala Mastella with an idyllic location. You can taste the real Ibiza there. They don't have a menu, you can choose between fish or bullit de peix and a dessert to finish. An absolute must do for fish lovers!
  • Es Nautic Restaurante : Located in the San Antonio yacht club, lovely classic service with a white tablecloth and waiters in traditional suits.
  • Port de Balansat : This is the place to be for the best bullit de peix, located in the port of San Miguel.

Veggie

Ibiza also has everything for a vegetarian or vegan culinary top experience. The best plant-based dishes can be found here:

  • Mikasa : This is the place to be for a full plantbased food experience with Lebanese influences in a beautiful setting at the harbor. They also have nice cocktails and you can stay overnight!

They only use local products from Ibiza. My favorite flavor is the pistachio, dark chocolate and raspberry. They also have delicious coffee, milkshakes and pancakes.

  • Market San Juan : This atmospheric hippie market is our favorite on the island! You can browse through the many stalls with handmade products (jewelry, clothing, perfumes, beauty, etc.) and local delicacies (coffee, pastries, etc.). I buy a lot of organic vegetables and fruits for home, and sometimes also fresh cut flowers from an old couple. We like to drink a spicy mango mojito on the terrace of Giri, their avocado cheesecake is also crazy good… thank me later! (* Temporarily closed, should reopen July 2023)
  • Las Dalias market : One of the most famous hippie markets with a cozy and friendly atmosphere in a colorful oasis of clothing, art, music and gastronomy. Ibiza is also a culinary discovery: the colorful farmers markets with fresh and organic ingredients are worth a visit. You can taste delicious seasonal vegetables and fruits, artisan bread, fresh fish and seafood, and local cheeses and meats. But there are also shops with unique regional products, such as olive oil. • El Rincon De Es Codolar : Specialty store with Italian delicacies. You can have a delicious breakfast with a coffee or the best juices, must try!
EATING ON THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACHES OF IBIZA

Sun, sea and sand! Vast golden sandy beaches with crystal clear water and magical sunsets… what's not to love! Ibiza is known for its breathtaking and iconic beaches where you can eat, sunbathe, party or enjoy the cozy atmosphere at the bar of the many beach restaurants. Or enjoy all the peace and serenity at secluded spots on the beautiful bay!

  • Es Cavallet: The restaurant La Escollera is open all year round, we also go there regularly in the winter! During the summer months you can enjoy the southern cuisine at a table on the edge of the sea. I recommend the burrata, chuleton and the homemade tarte tatin. El Chiringuito is also a very nice beach restaurant with wonderful sunbeds! They also have a super cool shop with all kinds of gadgets. The cocktails here are great: margarita with mezcal is my favorite. You should also definitely try the spaghetti with crab and the fresh oysters. If we can't check into our hotel room yet, we come here for breakfast first. The fresh juices and green toast are a good choice.
  • Salinas : The beach restaurant Jockey Club Ibiza has been a fixture on the island for 30 years with very well-kept dishes and a nice vibe. Definitely check out Sa Trinxa , an authentic club with hippies and good music, without too much bling bling.
  • Cala Moli: The natural boho setting and the view of the beach restaurant El Silencio is amazingly beautiful! With your feet in the sand at very spacious tables and comfortable seats, that's all it needs. Taste delicious Mediterranean dishes or chill with a cocktail at the large pool.
  • Cala Carbo : Small idyllic bay with pebble beach in the Southwest of Ibiza, our favorite spot! Perfect to chill with the whole family and very quiet outside the high season. On this beach Grace started playing with Izzy, the son of Josh Wink . A real friendship has developed thanks to the kids. You will also find 2 very nice restaurants with all the classic dishes: Can Vicent and Balneario Cala Carbo .
  • Vadella : Is really our first beach, where we always were and Grace learned to swim. We have experienced many sunsets and beautiful memories there. Always a delicious lunch or dinner at our favorite Italian Bon Sol , the most delicious pastas ever. I always order a Negroni'ke first, the spaghetti 'Prawns & Courgette' and for dessert the banoffee pie! Yes hellooookes
  • Cala Comte : Large bay with crazy beautiful water! You have the beautiful, but busy Sunset Ashram Restaurant . Or walk a little further to Ses Roques , Grace likes to jump from the high rocks into the water here. There is also a romantic restaurant on top of the rocks, the view over the water is really unique.
  • Ses Boques : A charming bay and pebble beach with a few sunbeds and fishermen's huts. You can eat well in the restaurant Ses Boques , this family business became popular since George Clooney came here. They honor the Ibizenco cuisine since 1974: the marinated tuna, Andalusian octopus, paella and langosta salteada are a must try here. These dishes never disappoint!
  • Cala Bonita : Very nicely situated on the bay with a few sunbeds to relax. A delicious restaurant with beautiful plates. I always go here for the fresh fish.
  • Cala Jondal: Enjoy the stylish beach club Jondal in a cozy launch on the beach. The food here is beyond delicious: a tasteful and refined menu with the best seafood. A bit more expensive, but TOP! Tropicana is also a nice place to eat well like ne pacha on your sunbed. The 'champion cortador de jamòn' cuts the tastiest ham for you according to etiquette.

  • Es Torrent : The restaurant here is an institution on the island, where you really have to have been! The sea cucumbers, raors (fried fish) and fideuà, paella with pasta instead of rice… all toppers on the menu! And the caramelized pineapple is also a must! I was lying next to the footballers Andrea Pirlo and Xavi Hernandez, who had just played the World Cup final Italy-Spain against each other and were afterwards resting fraternally in the beach chairs.
  • Escondida : This is the most famous nudist beach of Ibiza, always a nice vibe there. Discover the sustainable chiringuito with refreshing cocktails and surprising menu, only a few tables available. On Sundays there is also a lady who sells beautiful handmade jewelry. You can also book yoga lessons combined with a healthy breakfast or even sub-yoga. Definitely worth a visit for the beautiful sunsets, delicious spicy mojito and sometimes live bands.

  • Cala Pada : On this beach you will find Brisa de la Mar , a renowned family restaurant since 1986. The parrillada de pescado y marisco fresco is a must try, simple but very tasty. You can enjoy it afterwards in the sun loungers on the beach.
  • Cala Salada: Beautiful beach in the San Antoni region. Saladeta is a very small cozy beach right next to it, no sunbeds or fuss. But just relax in chill mode!

These events are not to be missed

The Storytellers Ibiza events are always very artistic, magical, and original with live acts, theater, circus… You will also find shops, make up artists and hair stylists, but you can also have delicious cocktails and local food.
